Edina Police Department
Public safety is a cornerstone of every community. Elevated crime rates have a cascading effect eventually ending in the dissolution of a community. Fundamentally, humans naturally migrate toward locations where they feel safe. Investment, population, school systems and taxes are all adversely affected by an increase in crime and positive future community outlook is directly tied to public safety.
Strong relationships between community and police promote public safety, diverting problems before they emerge. A citizenry that engages police, at all levels, only serves to proliferate a safe environment. Oftentimes it is citizens who first witness crime in real time alerting police to offenders.
Community development programs benefits from policing as well. Redevelopment of blighted areas benefit from police consultation designing space and planning for businesses that reduce crime rather than escalate it.
Founded in 1930 with a village Marshall, our Edina police force currently employs 56 officers.
Todd Milburn is Chief of Edina Police.
